  • Fort Sill. A U.S. Army post since 1869 and home of the Army’s Fires Center of Excellence.
  • Lawton. The Comanche County seat, home to Cameron University and the Museum of the Great Plains.
  • Wichita Mountains Wildlife Refuge. Protected since 1901, with free-roaming bison and elk, granite peaks, and the scenic road to the top of Mount Scott.
  • Medicine Park. Founded in 1908 as Oklahoma’s first resort town, known for its cobblestone buildings along Medicine Creek.
  • Cache and Elgin. Smaller communities just west and northeast of Lawton. Cache is home to the historic Quanah Parker Star House.
  • Duncan. The Stephens County seat on the route of the historic Chisholm Trail, and home of the Chisholm Trail Heritage Center.
